Prepares and serves meals in a school food service environment


The cook/utility performs routine duties associated with the preparation, presentation, and delivery of food to students, faculty, and visitors in a school foodservice operation. Position requires a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Must be able to lift and carry moderate weight. Ideal candidate will be comfortable with both front-of-house and back-of-house responsibilities.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Light food and drink preparation
  • Maintain cleanliness in every area of cafeteria and workspace
  • Properly operate kitchen equipment (e.g. dishwasher, convection oven)
  • Deliver quality guest service at all times
  • Read and comprehend menus, recipes, and task descriptions
  • Utilize basic math skills to make unit conversions and adjust quantities
  • Maintain composure under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Present a positive attitude toward your job
  • Demonstrate understanding of company philosophy
  • Any other duties as assigned by management
